CQuniversity • Video Update

Rebranded, not reshot.

When CQUniversity refreshed its brand, its video library had a problem. The content was still good, plenty of it current and worth keeping, but every clip instantly looked dated, stranded in the brand CQU had just moved on from. Reshooting a whole library wasn't on the table. So we brought the existing videos into the new brand instead: re-edited, re-graded, and rebuilt to match, with fresh motion graphics and a strategic pass to make sure the content still held up.

Video Editing
Motion Graphics
Colour Grading

The brief.

CQUniversity rolled out a new brand, and it wasn't a light touch. New structure, new approach, a genuinely different feel. That left a big library of videos in an awkward spot. The content in them was still relevant and useful, but the moment the new brand landed, every one of them looked old, clearly built in the brand CQU had just left behind.

Reshooting the lot would have been slow and expensive, and pointless when the footage was still good. The job was to bring the existing library up to the new brand, so the content could keep working without looking like a relic.

Client: CQUniversity
Sector: Higher Education
Scope: Rebranding an existing video library to the new brand, re-editing, colour grading, new tops, tails and supers, new motion graphics and a strategic content review.
Tools: Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects.

More than new fonts and colours.

Because the new brand was a real rethink and not just a new palette, updating the videos was never going to be a find-and-replace. We re-edited them to fit the new structure and feel: new tops and tails, new supers, and fresh motion graphics built for the new brand. We colour graded the footage to match, and swapped in new clips where the old ones no longer fit. The result looks like it was made in the new brand, not retrofitted into it.

A strategic eye, not just an editor's.

An update like this is a chance to fix more than the look. As we worked through the library, we checked that the content itself still stacked up, not just the branding. Where something was out of date, especially in the supers, we updated it, and where a clip or section needed more than an edit could fix, we flagged it with the team to be replaced. So the library didn't just come out on brand, it came out current.

The Library

See it in motion.

The refreshed library lives on YouTube. Same content, new brand, back in service.

Where it landed.

CQU came away with a whole video library brought up to the new brand, without the cost or delay of reshooting. The content that was still doing a job kept doing it, now looking current instead of dated, and the strategic pass meant a few things got improved along the way. A back catalogue rescued, not rebuilt.

"Nothing is too big or small for Kat to tackle, and her in-depth and broad experience, ability to simplify the complex, problem solve and get things done on time and on budget are second to none. Best of all she's a delight to work with."
